Definition: Cave paintings have been around for thousands of years they are found decorating the walls and ceilings of caves all over the world, some even dating back to the prehistoric period.

The Origin of cave paintings: the earliest cave painting in the world that is known is located on the Spanish cave walls on the Cantabrain Sea coast this cave has been named El Castillo. The paintings inside this cave have been dated over 40,000 years old and currently Europe’s oldest cave painting.

Oral traditions

Definition: when someone is told a story and wants to preserve their culture, myth or legend and then is passed down from one generation to the next until it comes to the present day in today’s society they come across in songs, stories or poems but as they are passed down they can be slightly changed or tweaked but they all mean the same from when it was begun generations before.

The Origin of Oral Tradition: It is believed that Oral traditon has been spoken since mankind has been able to communicate with each other. Nobody can put their finger on when it was most popular as it still continues in the modern day, although we have many known myths that originate from countries all over the world like Greece with their greek mythology ( Zeus,Hades,Posiden when they defeated the Titans) also we have the stories from the Medieval times ( The ledgend of Merlin and Robin hood)

Theatre

Definition: A place where people go to watch a performance, which they are usually combined with speech song and dance to portray a real life event or a imaginative one and presented it to a audience.

The Origin of Theatres: Theatres can be dated back over centuries ago approximately around Ancient Greece, through the ages the theatre it has had its ups and downs but when it came to western Europe it became popular very fast it was introduced around the mid 16th century.

Text

Definition: It is a representation of written language, text can be presented in many different ways such as mobile phones, computers, books and documents.

The Origin of Text: written language originated mainly in Ancient Egypt when the Egyptians used hieroglyphics which were like symbols, although text didn’t truly come forward until the Bronze age which is as early as the 7th Millennium BC. In my opinion text is mainly used in today’s modern society as it is more widely used as the technology is more greater than it was 100 years ago.

Film

definition: A long length presentation of real events, or ones of imagination. They are shown at either the cinema's or a home cinema where you are at the comfort of your home where you can watch it through a variety of mediums such as: DVD's, Blu-Ray or using subscriptions such as LoveFilm.

The Origins of Film: The film indusrty started around the late 1880's with the invention of the very first movie camera, but mainly all of the films were silent with films based on charlie chaplin. In early 1900's the advancements of technology it has gone from a novelty item to one of the most important form of entertainment industry and in my opinion films are mostly popular in todays society.


TV

Definition: TV is a device which lets the public watch shows which are usually run on a length of 30 to 60 minutes with a 5 minute break every 15 minutes so in a 60 minute show you would have a total of 4 breaks usually. The shows have many genres of shows on a typical TV station for example: cartoon network = kids genre where as BBC News = News and Information

The Origins of TV: Televison has been around since the early 1920's it started out in black and white then as technology moved on and advanced it came to colour. In todays world over 70% of people own more than 1 house hold TV. And TV is still continuing to gain popularity.
